About MERT Journal

MERT Journal (Mathematical Evaluation, Reasoning and Theory) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing mathematical knowledge at the intersection of theory, method, and application. The journal publishes original research that employs rigorous mathematical methodology — whether developing new theoretical frameworks, advancing analytical or computational methods, or applying established mathematics to address meaningful problems across disciplines.

MERT Journal is published by DuruAcademiA. All articles are immediately and freely available upon publication under a Creative Commons CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licence, with no article processing charges (APC).

Scope

MERT Journal welcomes original research in which mathematics is the primary instrument of inquiry. The journal bridges mathematical theory and application across all domains. Priority is given to work that connects mathematical rigour with evaluation, decision-making, or reasoning challenges.

Core topical areas include:

  • Decision Sciences & Evaluation Methods: MCDM (AHP, TOPSIS, VIKOR, PROMETHEE, ELECTRE, CODAS and hybrids); group decision making; aggregation operators; consensus models; ranking and selection.
  • Fuzzy Logic & Uncertainty Modelling: Type-1/2 fuzzy sets; intuitionistic, Pythagorean and q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets; neutrosophic and rough sets; possibility theory.
  • Optimization & Operations Research: Linear/nonlinear programming; metaheuristics; robust and stochastic optimization; queueing; inventory; scheduling; game theory.
  • Applied Statistics & Data Science: Bayesian inference; multivariate analysis; machine learning methodology; time series; statistical modelling.
  • Mathematical Modelling & Simulation: Differential equations; dynamical systems; mathematical biology; financial mathematics; numerical methods.
  • Pure & Structural Mathematics: Algebra; combinatorics; graph theory; topology; functional analysis; fixed-point theory; number theory.

Beyond these areas, MERT Journal welcomes original research from any scientific or engineering domain in which mathematics constitutes the primary analytical tool. If your work makes a substantial mathematical contribution — in theory, methodology, or rigorous application — it falls within the scope of MERT Journal.

Peer Review

All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review. Author and reviewer identities remain concealed throughout evaluation. Initial screening checks scope, originality, and guideline compliance; all manuscripts are screened with iThenticate (threshold: 20%). Qualifying submissions are assessed by at least two independent expert reviewers. The journal aims to provide an initial decision within 4–6 weeks of submission.
